What is a ceramic crown

Tooth restoration tailored to you

When a tooth is extensively damaged and a filling is no longer sufficient, we reconstruct it using a laboratory-made all-ceramic veneer or crown.

Most commonly these are teeth with large or unsightly fillings, teeth previously crowned, or teeth after endodontic treatment.

We use the most modern all-ceramic materials and work with laboratory experts who pride themselves on precise craftsmanship and colour accuracy.

All-ceramic crown
A laboratory-made restoration covering the entire tooth. Aesthetic, strong, metal-free.
Ceramic veneer
A partial crown bonded to the front surface of the tooth for aesthetic correction.
Laboratory precision
Crowns are fabricated in collaboration with dental laboratory experts using the most modern materials.
Treatment process

What to expect

Treatment takes place over two visits. Between them the tooth is covered with a temporary crown.

01
Local anaesthesia
Application of painless anaesthesia for complete numbing of the tooth and surrounding area.
02
Shade selection and tooth preparation
Selection of crown shade and gentle tooth reduction to allow crown placement.
03
Impression and temporary crown
A precise impression sent to the laboratory. The prepared tooth is immediately covered with a temporary crown.
04
Laboratory fabrication
An experienced technician fabricates the all-ceramic crown precisely from the impression. Fabrication takes approximately 5–7 working days.
05
Crown cementation
Trial fitting, any necessary adjustment and permanent cementation of the all-ceramic crown.
Why a ceramic crown

Advantages that make the difference

An all-ceramic crown is today the gold standard for prosthetic tooth restoration.

Outstanding aesthetics
Ceramic naturally mimics the appearance of tooth enamel – the result is indistinguishable from a natural tooth.
Completely metal-free
An all-ceramic solution without metal reinforcement – no grey margins at the gumline and no allergic reactions.
Low plaque adhesion
The smooth ceramic surface minimises plaque build-up and makes home hygiene easier.
Who is this treatment suitable for

Suitable for everyone

A ceramic crown is suitable for all patients with permanent teeth regardless of age.

Tip: Whitening before crown fabrication

If you are not satisfied with the colour of your teeth, we recommend whitening first. The crown shade will then be matched to your whitened teeth.

Most indikace
Extensive tooth destruction where a filling is insufficient
Large or unsightly existing fillings
Tooth after root canal treatment
Existing crown with caries or damaged aesthetics
Aesthetic correction of tooth shape or colour
Frequently asked questions

Most common questions

Is tooth preparation for a crown painful?
Treatment is performed under local anaesthesia and is therefore painless. While the definitive crown is being made, the tooth is protected with a temporary crown.
How long does treatment take?
Treatment takes place over 2 visits. In the first the tooth is prepared, an impression taken and a temporary crown fitted. In the second the definitive crown is cemented.
What colour will the crown be?
The colour of the crown is entirely your choice. We recommend matching it to the surrounding teeth for the most natural result.
How much does a crown cost?
The total price depends on the number of procedures performed. The exact price can be determined after the initial examination.
